Andretti Karting originally had four Formula 1 style sims, but customers had trouble getting in and out of the sims and were uncomfortable when in the sims because of the awkward configuration of F1 seating. SimGear came in and provided our own simulators to alleviate some of the problems Andretti Karting was dealing with.

Six branded simulators
When SimGear began working with Andretti Karting, the venue operated four F1-style simulators on a 33-foot platform. However, the reclined, laydown seating design typical of F1 configurations posed accessibility challenges. Many guests—particularly those with limited mobility, wearing skirts or dresses, or carrying extra weight—found entry and exit awkward and embarrassing. These difficulties not only affected the customer experience but also discouraged participation altogether.
In addition to the seating challenges, the operational setup limited the venue to running a single race session at a time, despite having four simulators. This created bottlenecks during peak periods. For instance, if two guests were racing and two others arrived, the latter group had to wait for the session to finish—leading to increased downtime, longer queues, and customer confusion.
To address Andretti Karting’s operational challenges, SimGear engineered a streamlined simulator design that enabled six pods to occupy the same footprint previously limited to four. We also replaced the traditional F1-style seating with a more universally comfortable alternative to enhance accessibility and customer satisfaction.
By integrating our Venue Management System alongside the expanded simulator count, Andretti Karting gained the ability to run multiple race sessions simultaneously. For example, if two guests are racing and two additional guests arrive, a second session can be launched immediately—followed by a third, if needed—ensuring continuous engagement without delay or downtime.
In addition to the technical improvements, SimGear incorporated side-mounted LED rev lights and dynamic brake lighting. These visual enhancements not only increase simulator visibility but also elevate excitement and attract more attention from spectators.
